My wife and I decided to try this out with about 40 min drive. Heard good things about Beefmasters Inn and it delivered exactly what we expected and wanted. Def a no frills, single item menu ribeye steak restaurant. We chose what was a relatively uncrowded early evening and were glad to be seated immediately. The servers were very casual and still very welcoming. The place is def small but that made it more special with feeling like a much more intimate dining experience with getting interactions from several of the employee, including the steak griller who personally came out to let us select out cut. Had almost a visiting someone’s house who is hosting you for dinner. Now on to the obvious most important reason for us venturing down there … the food. As with the restaurant all was very no frill, but great. The salad bar was well stocked with all the standard salad bar staples with nothing exotic. It was a nice start. Then we get the main course. Can with just a steak, baked potato and texas toast. All was well prepared and generous portions. The potato was huge but the steak was even better portioned. My wife’s 8oz seemed like what I would normally get from the chains 12oz version. My 12oz was bigger than expected also. The steak was lightly seasoned and VERY tender. Throughly enjoyed this steak even more than most high priced, hyped up steakhouses in Raleigh. The steak griller even came over and gave us complimentary sautéed sweet onions that may have been provided as a streak topping but I enjoyed them as a delicious side. Overall very glad we made the trip and we will be back or more. It wasn’t necessary cheap but still a great value for both the good and experience.

So we were looking for a place to eat in the one place we wanted to go to was close. Thank God because you never can judge a book by its cover. I had by far achieved 1of the best steaks I've ever had. There is no menu when you sit down at the table. The chef or cook comes out to your table & and asks how thick you want your steak? It comes with baked 🥔 grilled 🍞 and baked 🌰 I'm glad we only got the 8oz We still have enough leftovers 1 meal each. It's a little pricey but well worth the detour. BTW, I don't think the steaks were 8oz it looked a lot bigger.

Went here once or twice with my dad 20 or so years ago. The taste and level of service has not changed since then. I happened to be in the area today and stopped in with two others. This is a "no frills, no nonsense" locally owned and operated steak house. There is no menu, all they have is ribeye steak, baked potato, salad bar and a "baked onion" on request. They stick with what they've got because it works. This place is built and setup for great service, great tasting food and good table turnover. It is a smal place, with only 9 tables inside. The cook comes to your table with a cutting board and a whole ribeye. Their steaks start at 8 Oz and go up from there. He cuts it right at your table and then goes to grill to season and start cooking. Their salad bar may be small, but has plenty of items to make a great salad. There's no 20 foot long salad bar here with bright lights showing everything off. Your best option here, if you really are a steak eater is medium rare or medium. Anything over that, and you're wasting your and the cooks time. There were 2 servers working in tandem taking care of the customers. The service was friendly and quick. The servers aren't here to mess around. They're not here to be your friend or to flirt with anyone. They're short quick and to the point. To those looking for the big chain, "have you dined with us before? Then welcome back" type bouncy bubbly servers, this is not your type of place, please go elsewhere for your steak needs. If you're looking for fancy dining like you get in the expensive steak houses up north and in the big cities, don't come here. Their beef is locally sourced and has been for as long as I can remember. Their beer is cold, the steaks are hot and fresh, and for what it is, it cannot get any better. Ribeye is not my cut of choice, but I'll say I ate a "10 oz" and wanted more. If you want a cheap "steak" look elsewhere. This place has something that works and it works well for them and their customers.

My parents and I ate here Thursday, January 30. I have eaten here several times and I am never disappointed. From the moment we stepped in the door we were greeted and went to our table. Immediately the staff was there to take our drink order. The gentleman then came with the loin of beef to ask us what size steak we wanted and how we wanted it cooked. Then we went to the salad bar to get our salad. They had a plethora of items for your salad. It was all fresh and delicious. We finished our salad and by that time our steak, bake potato, and bread was served to us. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and a nice hot bake potato still steaming. The waiter did an impeccable job keeping beverage glasses filled the entire meal. Beefmaster you have never disappointed me. Also congrats being named by Southern Living as one of the best steak restaurants in the south! It is well deserved. I prefer this restaurant over the Angus Barn in Raleigh.

Very good. He shows steak. You say how much and how. Done no further questions asked. Unfortunately during my visit the rare for the medium rare was not heard. It was still delicious. Probably my fault for not speaking up enough. It was very good. Will go back anytime I'm around.

When they bring to your table the whole piece of rib eye for you too choose how big you want your steak to be, you know right then and there that it would be a great dining experience.. Our steak was cooked to perfection, their salad bar was super. Fresh. They kept restocking the items, they bake potatoes are not dry and they garlic bread was delicious! You only need to pick how big your steak will be. There is only one menu item, so you know they have mastered the cooking time and temperature accordingly to their customer's likeness. Small place, clean and once it's full it takes about one hour and fifteen minutes to seat the next group. In the meantime people play corn hole outside, do some drinking or snacking, kinds of tailgating while they get a table. They do offer liquour and alcoholic beverages. So either you stick to water or a drink, it won't matter because their steak is so juice and tender that you'll forget anything else. Not a formal dinning place, not a romantic one but yes a family and inviting place to come. We traveled a little over an hour to try their food. We weren't disappointed. We had a great experience. The one item menu cost starts at $50.00 and from there on depending on how big you want your steak to be.

Had an outstanding dinner at this establishment. The cook & waitstaff were very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is plain and simple with no frills. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Our steaks were cooked as asked and seasoned just right. No need for steak sauce here!

If I could give The Beefmaster Inn ten stars, I would! My husband and I drove 3.5 hours just to try this hidden gem in Wilson, and let me just say — it was worth every single mile. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. My husband ordered a 16 oz steak… though we’re both pretty sure it looked more like a 22 oz! It was massive, beautifully cut, and cooked absolutely to perfection. I ordered one as well, and our entire group agreed: these were hands-down the best steaks we’ve ever had. Perfect seasoning, perfect sear, melt-in-your-mouth tender — exactly what you hope for in a true steakhouse experience. And the service? Phenomenal. Truly some of the friendliest staff we’ve ever encountered. Our drinks were topped off when they were barely ½–1 inch down. We never had to ask for a thing. The team was attentive without being intrusive, warm without being overbearing — they made us feel genuinely welcome. The building itself may be small, but don’t let that fool you. They’ve thought of everything — a smart, comfortable layout inside and even seating and cornhole outside to keep guests entertained if there’s a wait. It’s clear that every detail has been carefully considered to create not just a meal, but an experience. I cannot praise The Beefmaster Inn enough. Incredible food, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes the long drive completely worth it. We’ll absolutely be back — and we’ll gladly make the 3.5-hour trip again! 🥩✨

WOW! This is real beef. The best in NC. The only steak that beats the Nebraska beef I was raised on. Honestly the flavor of this steak is so excellent you need nothing added. The baked potato is the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Most amazing is the organization of the service this business provides. 3 Skilled men complete the whole services for at least 40 guests with the precision of a racing team. No wasted movements. Well coordinated. EFFICIENT yet friendly service. The Chief cuts your steak to weight at the table. Then you proceed to the best organized efficient salad bar I have ever seen. The steak is cooked where one can observe the process. Then the toast is grilled. The tables are served in order of the cut steaks. Then the process is repeated for the next group of freshly cut steaks. I don't know what impressed me more the flavor of the perfect steak or the process of serving the customer. Customers register as they come and set up a tailgate to wait their turn. The customers are excellent however not completely tuned into the process. If your a group I would suggest you arrive together so your delay does not interfere with the organization of the business. If you love a good steak visit here, you will not be disappointed.

This evening was my first time visiting the Beefmastor inn and the customer service was phenomenal. They were warm and welcoming, and they helped me to celebrate a very special birthday. The ribeye steak was seasoned to perfection and absolutely melts in your mouth. The food was so fulfilling that I had to take a majority of it home. Thank you for making my evening special.
